  • Lead a group of 13 North American high school students during a 3 week volunteer program in the Monteverde Cloudforest and other parts of Costa Rica.
  • Responsible for the safety of the group and communications between the group and the local community in Spanish.
  • Managed an $8000 budget and maintained an expense log.
Fray Bartolome de las Casas Human Rights Center, Chiapas, Mexico
International Peace Observer, January 1996; January 1997
  • Traveled to remote indigenous communities as a neutral observer during the conflict between the Zapatista Army and the Mexican military.
  • Worked with community leaders to organize their supplies.
  • Reported on the human rights situation and living conditions in indigenous communities.
